In some European countries it is a legal requirement to complete a first aid course before obtaining a driving licence. If a friend or loved one is hurt or falls suddenly ill, ask yourself honestly, do you think you would know the right thing to do?
Emergency First Response gives you the tools you need to perform CPR and First Aid. Whether you're a diver or a non-diver, Emergency First Response prepares you to properly handle potentially life-threatening situations.
What do I need to start? The Emergency First Response course is not just for divers - anyone is welcome. There is no age restriction.
What will I do? This comprehensive program is composed of two core modules that can be taught in tandem or as stand-alone courses: EFR Primary Care and EFR Secondary Care. Together, these courses provide extensive instruction in CPR and First Aid, as well as providing optional (yet recommended) Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and Emergency Oxygen sections.
This is a medically based course designed to teach students at a simple level the same procedures and priorities used by paramedics. The PADI Emergency First Response course is recognised in over eighty countries and conforms to International First Aid standards.
How is the course conducted? There are a series of videos broken up by instructor demonstrations. Frequent role playing exercises help you to put theoretical knowledge to use in practical scenarios.
There are seven basic skills of patient care covered in this course.
- Primary Assessment
- Obstructed Airways
- One Rescuer CPR
- Control of Bleeding
- Shock Management
- Illness Assessment
- Injury Assessment
How long will it take? Courses can be conducted over several evenings, and are often scheduled to coincide with Rescue Diver courses
Where can I go from here? This course satisfies your PADI Rescue Diver CPR prerequisite. |
