This site is named after the fact that it is located right next to a large parking area (read: not so large, but larger than the others). The diving here is fairly standard; a sloping bottom. Suitable for both beginners and experienced divers, though the deeper parts of the site are much more interesting than the shallower sections.

Getting there:

By car, from Zurich city: If you are driving from Zurich city drive down Seestrasse from the Bellevue side of the lake towards Rapperswil. Continue driving for about 15 minutes until you get to Erlenbach. As you pass through Erlenbach the road will be separated from the lake - i.e. the lake is not immediately visible. The road will wind around to the right and the lake will become visible again. The small parking area you see is called Kleiner Parkplatz (German for small parking place). Continue on about 200 meters and you'll see a larger parking area. This is the dive site.

By car, from Rapperswil: Drive up towards Zurich, through Meilen and past the ferry terminal on your left. Continue on for about one to two kilometres and you'll see a large parking area by the side of the lake. This is the dive site.

By public transport: Take the train to Bahnhof Winkel. Leave the station heading towards the lake, walk down to the Seestrasse and turn left. Walk for approximately 600m. The road will wind around to the right and the lake will become visible. The small parking area you see is Kleiner Parkplatz (small parking place). Continue on about 200 meters and you'll see a larger parking area. This is the dive site.

Parking: While there are "ample" parking spaces compared to other sites during periods of good weather you may have trouble getting a space.

Entry / Exit: There are many choices for entries and exits at this site. You can either use one of the buoys, or simply start your dive from any point along the shoreline.

Dive Area (Surface): The shoreline here is long, straight, and uniform. The bottom slopes off rather sharply, so you will never really need to be far from the shoreline when on the surface. You'll notice three large yellow buoys spaced evenly over the length of the site.

Dive Area (Underwater): Each of the buoys is connected to a chain which drops down to around 25 meters. At the bottom of each chain is a further chain which runs along the bottom back to the shoreline. Below the 25 meter mark there are a series of several small walls forming a staircase-like formation down to 40 meters.

You can start the dive by descending using one of the chains to 25 meters, then descending down to 40 meters. After this you can ascend again and locate the bottom of one of the chains, and either follow the chain along the ground back up to the shoreline, or ascend directly up the chain to the buoy above.

What to look for: In the deeper sections Trüsche (burbot) can often be found either hiding or travelling across the walls.

Facilities: There is a small cafe, known as Steinrad, at this site. Snacks and drinks are available, as well as public toilets.
