Zurich Divers was started by an English-speaking PADI instructor who realised that there are many people in Zurich who speak little or no German, but would still like to enjoy the sport of diving.
Originally the idea behind the site was to provide information about local diving conditions to the English-speaking community.
However, we came to the realisation that the amount of information available online regarding local diving conditions was actually quite poor. The level of innovation and the information offered on the web sites of dive stores in the Zurich area was not adequate. Many sites contained only scraps of information, were poorly designed, and used outdated technology to present their content. The popular dive site guide book for Switzerland also had sparse and often inaccurate or outdated information; so we felt that there was plenty of scope for improvement concerning the information available to local divers.
Therefore the decision was made to develop zurichdivers.com further, and provide information for both the German-speaking and English-speaking communities.
Our mission is to provide high quality, extensive, accurate information to the diving community in the Zurich area.
We do not have our own dive store and do not sell equipment. We aim to provide independent impartial advice and high quality training. Some of us have relations with different dive stores and clubs, and also provide instruction to the customers or members of these organisations.
We all have jobs outside the diving industry - diving is our hobby. We teach and advise others because we feel it is important to support and develop our local diving community. Do you have something to contribute? Do you have ideas for this site, or can you help with translation? Can you produce accurate and detailed maps of dive sites, or perhaps help with some photography?
Help us to make this site the number one source of information for diving activities in the Zurich region.
