Short Trips PDF Print E-mail

ImageWe often organise trips away to locations within driving distance of Zurich. These are often weekend trips, but are sometimes during the week. Examples of locations might be the Verzasca Valley in Tessin, crystal clear lakes in Austria or the Italian coast.

Where can I find out about these trips?

Check the schedule, or make sure you are signed up to our mailing list. For details of the locations themselves check out our dive site descriptions for "further away" under "Dive Sites" from the main menu.

How do I register?

Just let us know. Your early registration for an event is appreciated as it helps us to plan. If insufficient interest is shown the event will be cancelled without notice. Please avoid discovering that the event you were interested in is no longer available to you because you didn't let us know in time.

Please note that if resources have been allocated and other bookings have been made (such as accommodation) cancellation policies may apply.

How much do these events cost?

Unlike other dive schools, our events are not run for profit. This means you pay your own transport and accommodation costs. In the case where there are fees for the use of a boat, you pay these fees directly to the dive bases or boat owners concerned.

Are training activities available during these trips?

Some training courses which make sense for the particular location are sometimes available. For example, when you visit a mountain lake it is strongly advisable to complete the Altitude Diver speciality if you haven't had training for altitude environments. You might also use these trips as an opportunity to complete an additional Nitrox dive if you require one for Nitrox certification. Maybe you can also complete a few adventure dives or work on another speciality at the same time - the choice is yours. Completing specialities in this way is not expensive, they are usually charged at CHF50 per training dive. Please see the price list for further details, and if you think the training is expensive please consider that you are receiving all other parts of the trip "at cost" without any additional markup or profit making on our part.

ImageI've got an idea for an event or trip, should I tell you?

Of course, if you have a few people for an activity we can advertise it and maybe other people will join.

These events sound great - do you have pictures from previous events?

Sure - check the photo gallery section of this site. Not every event has photos posted, but you should be able to find some that interest you.

Do I have enough experience for a given trip?

Probably - but check with us if in doubt. A trip will usually specify if there are any pre-requisites. For example even beginners are welcome for the Tessin weekends, but at least 50 dives' experience is required for the Fernsteinsee trip to Austria.

What about longer trips to places like the Red Sea?

These require a lot of organising, as well as early commitments from more than a few people. Experience has shown that going to the additional trouble of attempting this has not been successful, despite expressions of "interest" from people. If the situation somehow changes we may review this. If you have a group of people that are willing to commit to something then we may reconsider this policy. Until then, our trips will be limited to shorter, closer trips.
