ImageHave you ever wanted to feel what it is like diving to 50 meters? Now you can have the chance to do a "dry dive" inside a recompression chamber. For those who aren't sure what this is - it's used for treating divers who have "the bends" or decompression illness.

What will I do there?

You'll have the chance to learn about how the treatments work as well as doing a simulated dive to 50 meters. You'll experience nitrogen narcosis, otherwise known as the "rapture of the deep".

Are there any pre-requisites?

The best part is that there are no pre-requisites for this activity, divers from all levels as well as non-divers are welcome. The only requirement is medical clearance either from a doctor or the standard diving medical declaration. Ask us for more details if you aren't sure.

How much does it cost?

38 euros. This includes a guided tour and snacks/drinks as well as the "dry dive" itself.

Where is it and how do we get there?

The location is in Germany on the Bodensee, approximately 1.5 hours away from Zurich by car. You can arrange transport yourself or share a car with people who are also going.

How long does it take?

The whole experience will take around 3 hours, but this includes all the other parts of the experience, not just the time in chamber itself which is usually relatively short. You won't be able to fly or drive to altitude for 24 hours afterwards, and you should also avoid diving for 24 hours afterwards.

When does this event happen?

As always, please check the schedule for the next event. If you don't see it in the schedule then there probably isn't one scheduled - in this case keep checking the schedule or make sure you are signed up to our mailing list to ensure that you are notified. We require a minimum of 10 people, and we must give advance notice of 2 weeks to the chamber. Therefore we need an early commitment from people in order to run this event. If you don't see anything scheduled please let us know and if there is enough interest we can schedule something.

Is there any more information about this?

You can also check out the website for the chamber here. Unfortunately this website is in German only.
